“Out.” This time, the barrel of a pistol peeked in her window.

NickNames for All!

I love it when people have nicknames. It’s so much fun when you’ve called someone Butch for years, and finally find out his real name is Marion. I have nicknames for all the little ones. Tiny O, Pig Nuckle, Punkin’ Little. And I even have one for hubby. He’s Kick when we’re alone.

Last week, after he called me by my name whilst we were driving somewhere, I asked why he doesn’t have a nickname for me. He just shrugged. So I asked him to come up with one. We batted names back and forth. The ones I liked, he didn’t. The ones he liked were just stupid. (Okay, that’s my editorial point of view, but hey - I’m the one who has to be called that name!)

We never came up with one, and I told him he has until midnight on New Years’ Eve to tell me what my new nickname is. I can’t wait to hear his choice. More on this developing story…next year!

More Than One Pen Name

How important is it to keep your genres separated? If you write inspirational romance and young adult, probably not too important. But if you write childrens books and erotica, definitely consider two pen names!

I stumbled upon a website for an author of picture books for kids. In the bottom corner, she had a link to her erotic site. Really? Do this writer honestly think a parent who’s researching her child’s favorite author will be tempted to buy a triple-X rated book from the same author? Kind of an “eeew” factor.

I keep two pen names because my generes are divergent. And judging by Facebook posts by my Friends, that was a very good plan on my part. Their discussions are decidedly unique, and would not be a good mix.

Yes, it’s twice the work keeping up with social networking, twice as expensive to market and brand two names, but I’m happy with my split personality.
